Tony Romo: Redemption

Tony Romo: Redemption
by, Billy Mumphrey

Romo: You want answers?

NFL, Fans, Media (Tom Cruise): I think I'm entitled to them.

Romo: You want answers?!

NFL, Fans, Media: I want the truth!

Romo: You can't handle the truth! Son, I play in a league that delivers hits by 300 pound killers. And those hits are given and taken by men who have dedicated their entire life to one goal. Who's gonna do what it takes to play in the NFL? You? You, Stephen A. Smith? I have a greater responsibility as an NFL QB than you can possibly fathom.

You weep for Marshawn Lynch and you curse the NFL. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Marshawn’s Retirement, while tragic, probably saved defensive players lives. And my Career, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saved Drew Bledsoe, Jason Whitten and Jerry Jones’ lives.

You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at draft parties and message boards, you want me in that game. You need me in that game.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone broken in a life spent desperately reaching for a playoff win! You use 'em as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a bunch of people who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very entertainment I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a protein shake and hit up the Planet Fitness Gym Membo. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

NFL, Fans, Media: Did you order the retirement?

Romo: I did the job you sent me to do.

NFL, Fans, Media: Did you order the retirement!?

Romo: You're goddamn right I did!!

Gold Medal - Team USA

Championship Game
7:30 PM, April 7th, 2017 - Team USA vs. Team Canada (Silver); 3-2 OT Team USA

Bronze Medal Game
Team Finland (Bronze) vs. Team Germany (4th); 8-0 Team Finland

Semi-Final 1

Semi-Final

Thurs. April 6, 7:35 PM - 1. Team USA vs. Team Germany, 11-0 Team USA

Goals: Hilary Knight, Kelli Stack, Kendall Coyne, Emily Pfalzer, Jocelyn Lamoureux, Kendall Coyne, Megan Keller, Amanda Pelkey, Monique Lamoureux, Haley Skarupa, Alex Carpenter

(Team USA is hot, coming off three strong wins and putting in a lot of goals. Any team can always be upset any game, but the USA players know this, and play accordingly. They will be tough to beat.)

 Quarterfinal

Tue. April 4, 7:35 PM - Team Germany vs. Team Russia, 2-1 Team Germany

(Team Russia scored early to take the lead in the first period, but Team Germany fought their way back and scored a goal in the second and one in the third to advance to the semi-finals and take on the USA.)

(Team Germany is having a great tournament and could be a Cinderella Surprise. They won two games in group stage, beating a tough Team Sweden and Team Czech. But don't count out Team Russia. Their first game in the tournament they beat the skilled Team Finland.)

Semi-Final 2

Semi-Final

Thur. April 6, 3:35 PM - 2. Team Canada vs. Team Finland, 4-0 Team Canada

(The always giant Team Canada has started off this tournament slow, losing their first two games, which never happens. Their third game seemed more the norm as they put up 8 on Team Russia. Let's see which team shows up in the semi-final.)

Quarterfinal

Tue. April 4, 3:35 PM - Team Finland vs. Team Sweden, 4-0 Team Finland

(Team Finland was just too much for Sweden.)

(Team Finland is dangerous! They beat Team Canada and then almost upset Team USA in group stage. Keep an eye out. Equally talented rival Team Sweden could also ruin a few days. They won two strong games in group stage and are on a roll. Any Finland vs. Sweden hockey game is always a game I'll watch.)

USA Group Stage Results

 Update 3 (4/3/17)

Game 3. USA vs. Finland, 5-3 W
Goals: Hilary Knight, Kendall Coyne, Hilary Knight, Hannah Brandt, Jocelyn Lamoureux

The United States Women showed  why they were the best in the world in tonight's third and final game of the group stage. Team Finland after beating Canada came after Team USA with reckless abandon. Finland scored first shocking the US, but Hilary Knight equaled the game at 1-1. In the second period the US put in two more goals, but Finland never gave up coming back in the third period tying the game at 3-3. The US held strong and continued to pepper the Finish Goalie and put one in to make it 4-3. USA finished first in their group stage.

Update 2 (4/1/17)

Game 2. USA vs Russia, 7-0 W
Goals: Amanda Kessel, Kendall Coyne, Jocelyne Lamoureux, Jocelyne Lamoureux, Brianna Decker, Kendall Coyne, Brianna Decker

The USA Women’s Hockey Team scored an impressive 7 goals on a tough Russian counterpart today to win 7-0 in their second of three preliminary group stage games. After four first period USA penalties, the Americans settled down and got a late first period goal from Amanda Kessel. They then put in three second period goals (Kendall Coyne, Jocelyne Lamoureux, Jocelyne Lamoureux) to increase the lead to 4-0. Brianna Decker finished a tick-tack-toe line pass to make it 5-0 USA. Kendall Coyne put the cherry on top to make it 6-0 and Brianna Decker the scoring machine put in one with seconds left in the game to make it a 7-0 Final. Team Russia played hard, but the Americans were just too fast and came too hard. The women will finish their three games with Finland at 7:30 on Monday night.

 Update 1 (3/31/17)

Game 1. USA vs. Canada, 2-0 W
Goals: Brianna Decker, Gigi Marvin

The USA Women's Hockey Team sent a message to the rest of the world tonight with their impressive 2-0 win over rival Team Canada. From the first drop of the puck both teams battled back and forth gaining equal chances to score. Mid-way through the second period USA's Brianna Decker tapped in a sick backdoor pass from Emily Pfalzer to take the lead 1-0. And early in the third period Gigi Marvin rocketed one from the point past Canada's tough goaltender to make it 2-0. What's most impressive is not just the win, but the fact that the USA team had no practices under their belt prior to the tournament and no training camp. Tomorrow, the women take on Team Russia at 3:30 on the NHL Network.

If a tree falls in the woods, Does Anybody Care if Jonathan Quick makes this Save?!

If a tree falls in the woods, Does Anybody Care if Jonathan Quick makes this Save?!
by, Billy Mumphrey

Jonathan Quick, the goalie for the Los Angeles Kings, made ONE save last night in a 2-1 loss that was one of the most involuntary unreal goalie saves of the year. Meaning, Quick trains so much and trains his fast twitch muscles so hard that by instinct he is able to make this save. It is unreal. It means nothing to him or the season. But, it's still a great save!

NHL West Playoff Teams Set!

NHL West Playoffs Teams Set; Seeding still up for Grabs.

NHL West Playoff Teams Set
by, Billy Mumphrey

With the final week and a half ending on the NHL 2016-17 Season, the West Playoff teams have been solidified. Although, their rankings and pairings could be widely different than they stand now.
