Unique in a Sea of Normal

Unique in a Sea of Normal
by, Billy Mumphrey

The band, All the Rest, is something like you've never heard before.

Countless times when hearing new music on the radio these days, we are hearing a copycat generation of minutia and regurgitated mess. But, then a friend of Local Big Time turned us onto this band with a new sound called, All the Rest. And we weren't disappointed.

All the Rest, is a group out of Senoia, Georgia. The band has been together about four years now and recently have been busy traveling and playing hundreds of shows around the country. Shredding on guitar and vocals you have,  Caleb Smith and Baylee Waller. Bringing the heavy beat on bass and vocals we have Tre Housman; and on drums playing to our inner warrior is Jud Harris.

They have just put out their new single "Black Plague." Black Plague makes a statement to the rest of the bands coming up through the ranks right now that All the Rest means business. This song could be an Album's Franchise Song, its a song you could build an entire record around. Black Plague, to this reviewer, feels like the soul of Iggy Pop's Real Wild Child, with the musical mix of Metallica's Fade to Black and The White Stripes' Icky Thump. Black Plague makes me want to go see a rock show in dive bar, get into a fight with some locals, and get crazy with the hometown crew! Its not only got legs, its got balls too. I'd bet anybody money, that we will not only see this band make it huge, but we will be hearing their music on television shows, commercials and big movie scenes. Their music straight up belongs in the Suicide Squad 2.

If you are in the Georgia area, their next show will be at The Vinyl in Atlanta on April 27th.

Local Big Time had the privilege to interview All the Rest:

1. Your sound is a mix of Rock and Roll and Punk music, what about those two genres intrigue you?

All The Rest: We wouldn't say our music sounds punk, however we draw inspiration from the 80’s post punk era of music. It isn't just the music in this era that inspires us, but the rebellious movement and new breakthrough sounds that intrigue us. As far as Rock n' Roll goes, who doesn't love it? Everything about the Rock n' Roll vibe and lifestyle is intriguing.

2. What kind of topics is your band interested in when exploring lyrically?

All The Rest: Girls, being young and broke, our mad generation, and feeling helpless. We tend to feed off of the lowest points in our lives.

3. Where does the "Angst" come from in your newly released single "Black Plague?"

All The Rest: There is a bit of angst in every break up. So, essentially, that's what the song is about.

4. Your single "Black Plague" has that old-western-bar-fight-shootout feel, do you see your music being in television shows and movies?

All The Rest: Most definitely.

5. What can the fans expect next from the music of "All the Rest?"

All The Rest: A lot more music, shows, and good times.

Norwich Lacrosse Big Road Trip

Norwich Lacrosse Big Road Trip
by, Billy Mumphrey

The Norwich Cadets are looking to even up their 0-2 season start with two big road games this week. The season hasn't started as planned for the Cadets losing their first two games by only a single goal and late in games, one being in overtime. They could just as easily be 2-0 right now. Here is a look at the upcoming week's opponents.

Norwich Players to Watch:

- Midfield - Sr. 13. Joe Wood and Jr. 3. Michael Cashman - These Field Generals act like Snipers from the top of the box.

- Attack - Sr. 22. Nick Imbriani, 77. Jr. Ian Kennedy, Jr. 10. Josh Jenkins, and So. 6. Aidan Moulton - This is a one-unit Scoring Machine and when they take their act from "getting comfortable" to "one monster", I'd watch out. These boys will put up numbers.

- Mid. Fr. 43. Connor Bourque: This kid put an open field hit on an NEC Player so hard I was surprised the NEC Player got up. Watch out for them New Hampshire Boys!

- Long Stick Mid. Jr. 1. Matt Whear: Wearing #1 always makes a statement and Whear lives up to that 1. Watch this kid every face-off chop down the whole Cherry Forrest!

Norwich vs. Mass. Maritime
The Massachusetts Maritime Buccaneers have started their season 2-0. The NEWMAC (New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference) contender has put away two GNAC teams already as Maritime has beaten Albertus Magnus (16-6) and St. John's ME (8-4). Most Norwich Alumni think the Cadets can win a big one Thursday night, "Norwich is going to unload an un-godly hail storm of feces and wreckage upon Mass. Maritime," exclaimed one Un-Named Norwich Alumni. You can watch the game tonight,

Saturday, March 18, at 1:00PM
Norwich vs. Coast Guard
We all love the Coast Guard when stranded in Boston Harbor or Cape Code on a party boat with no gas, but this Coast Guard Bear's lacrosse team is no warm sight. The Bears have started their season 2-2, and are coming off two hard loses. The Norwich Cadets can expect to see a Coast Guard team that is focused to get back on track. Again, the Norwich Alums feel strongly in favor of the Maroon and Gold, "This is a battle for Military bragging rights and the Norwich cavalry is going to feces all over the Coast Guard Bear-Den," believes an Un-Named Norwich Alumni. You can watch the game Saturday,

Music's Next Explosion: Karl Remy

Karl Remy: Music's Next Explosion
by, Billy Mumphrey

The world loves underdog stories and this is surly one of them.

The Music Industry is a hard and cruel monster to tackle, spitting out the hopes and dreams of thousands of artists who try to "make-it" every year. But, there's one artist who refuses to give in and that, is Karl Remy.

Karl Remy and his killer band, Travis Montgomery, Brian Petrivelli, and Phillip Jackson Keenan, have been through many ups and downs over the last three years, playing hundreds of small gigs throughout the south. Their music, which is a cross between rock and roll and country, has become very popular regionally and is now spreading into other areas of the United States. The one thing that stands out about Karl and the band is that they are definitely the kind of people who get places as their "never-give-up" attitude oozes from their music. They are diamond polished, ground up and ground up by years of the road and rejection, that every show they play now is an almost perfect set. They are brash, loud, and carry a heavy message: they are here to stay. Remy and Band recently just played one of their biggest venues yet, performing at the Atlanta Speedway before the NASCAR race. Also, their song "Cowboy Rage" was used by the Wrangler Network for the Professional Bull Riding Promos.

Local Big Time had the chance to catch up with lead, Karl Remy for an Interview:

1. You just performed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, what was that like and how were the NASCAR Fans?

Remy: Dude, it was a success and by success I mean a huge step for our career. I remember starting out playing my first burger joint south of Atlanta 2 years ago. I was so nervous and excited to play in front of 50 people, and now I am playing shows and a Fox news camera is in my face while performing. Every step forward is a win and of course the NASCAR fans are definitely my kind of crowd!

2. When writing a song, where do you draw for your Inspiration?

Remy: Like every artist, I like to think I am pretty smart and a great writer, haha, but the truth is, it normally comes from a life experience or some sort of heart break. I try to keep what I do really simple.

3. You're music has a little edge to it, where does that edge come from?

Remy: Man I literally love AC/DC and most rock & roll! However, I grew up on a small farm!  Tractors and driving with my dad down the road in an old Chevy to get grain from the Randolph feed mill, was how I remember my childhood! So, I guess that's where the two worlds collide and out comes this edgy Country tone!

4. What about Music makes you the most happy?

Remy: Hands down, it’s the people! Or when I am chilling with my buddies singing some ridiculous cover and drinking a beer!  It's a toss-up.

5. What can we expect from upcoming Karl Remy Music?

Remy: You can expect that Edge.  I literally used to be called Crazy Karl. So you can expect to be shocked with every step I take haha. But I promise you are going to love the new stuff.
