Bob Sacamano the Equipment Reviewer: 2017 Bauer Vapor 1x Skates Review

2017 Bauer Vapor 1x Skates Review
by, Billy Mumphrey and Bob Sacamano

The new 2017 Bauer Vapor 1x Skates won't be released until April or May, but our equipment reviewer, Bob Sacamano, knows the right pro's and had the opportunity to not only check out the new skates but try them on and skate around. Now, as you know, a few skate around sessions doesn't make or break a skate and often times you need to own a skate to truly review it. At 500+ dollars a pop, us normal folks don't have the means to "own" all these skates before we buy them. So we here at Local Big Time trust the judgment of our Professional Equipment Reviewer, Bob Sacamano.

After talking with Sacamano, we learned his likes and dislikes about the skate. We will start with the dislikes. "I didn't like the longer tongue. Tongue is preference, but it seems a little too long too for the boot. I also didn't like the skinnier boot, but we all know in the Bauer line, that the Vapors are going to be tough for us wide foot ducks. The boot flex was okay, the pair I tried needed to be worn more to get a better grasp on the flex. With sweat and time they say this boot will feel more like a part of your foot and flex that way. I liked the look. I think it's an aesthetically pleasing; I like the color palate. I also like that the boot doesn't have any eyelets. Eyelets are a pain in the ass so having the lace holes part of the boot is amazing and makes the boot feel more connected to your foot. I also like the Tendon-Guard sits a little higher and keeps you leaning forward. The skate seems to grip the ice like a pro-skate should and they feel really light on your feet. I give it 7/10 Number 1 Hands"
